DOVER — On March 6th we all saw our last episode of the beloved series Downton Abbey, 350 local fans were able to see the last episode at 3pm instead of in the evening and 85 of those even luckier fans were able to enjoy an authentic tea service on the stage at The Rochester Opera House. The tea service was provided by The Silver Fountain Inn & Tea Parlor and consisted of tea sandwiches like smoked salmon, egg salad and cucumber dill, scones with fresh Devonshire cream and lemon curd plus petite fours and desserts and of course over 10 different tea flavors! Most came to the event dressed up in Downton style which was so much fun to see, please see our Gallery page for pictures.
Did you know that we are now open to the public for lunch? Our new Tea Parlor luncheon is going quite well with daily openings Monday through Saturday 11:30am-3pm. We now offer lighter fare like sandwiches, salads, quiche and soup or our fancy 3-tiered “Duchess” depending on your appetite and mood. Our scrumptious scones and curd are now available for take home as well! Please feel free to come casual or dressed up, throw on a crazy hat and boa too if you like as we are the perfect venue for a quiet lunch with friends or a celebration such as baby or wedding showers and sprinkles, birthday parties of any age (how about Sweet 16?), anniversary parties, social groups and clubs or business gatherings as well.
Look for upcoming Special Tea Events like our Valentines Luncheon, Irish Tea, Poetry in Tea, Mothers Day Luncheon, Jane Austen series, and Downton Teas. Please go to our Tea Parlor tab for specific dates, to make reservations and find other information.
